Girls LEAP

Teaching Assistant participants are college-aged women and gender-nonconforming individuals trained to serve as teaching assistants. We provide them an opportunity for personal and professional development in leadership, intergenerational mentoring, coaching, guidance, and social justice.

Fund Training For Teaching Assitant

Teen Mentors build leadership skills by coaching younger and near-aged youth in Girls’ LEAP programs. They also raise community awareness about the violence that girls and gender-expansive youth face. Teen Mentors are paid part-time employees who serve as near-peer mentors and assistant teachers. We mentor them in leadership skills and support them in developing and pursuing academic and career goals.

Our Advanced Program reinforces the skills taught in the Foundation Program and introduces physical and social emotional skills to deal with more intense physical risks and deeper examination of skills such as adrenaline management, managing peer pressure, managing your online presence, and dating and breakup violence.

Girls' Advanced Program: Fund One Girl's Advanced Self-Defense Course

Girls’ LEAP Foundation Program is our 10-week, 20-hour curriculum that trains participants in physical self-defense and social-emotional skills. Physical skills focus on physical safety and self-defense techniques. Socio-emotional skills teach conflict resolution, setting boundaries, courage, advocacy and healthy relationships. It is delivered in a safe environment that supports students to cultivate protective factors against violence, as a foundation to grow into strong, healthy young adults. This program is for girls and gender expansive youth aged 8-18.

Fund First Year of College Expenses

A back-to-school program in which LHTYF partners with Atlanta area shelters and community centers to distribute lunch boxes, book bags and school supplies to underprivileged families with school age children. Currently, this program targets Fulton and Dekalb counties but will expand in the future to metropolitan Atlanta.

Provide Supplies for One Lunchbox and Backpack

Workshops are provided free to children aged 6-13. The workshops are designed to teach kids the following key components about their health: how to cook and eat healthier, avoiding fast food and foods high in sugar and fat, how to exercise, stay active and fit, focusing on yoga, aerobics and tumbling, the importance of proper health-care at each stage in their young lives.
